Chandigarh, Lt Gen V Menon, SM, VSM, Chief of Staff, HQ Western Command, visited the site earmarked for establishing the Services Selection Centre (North) at Rupnagar. The Chief of Staff interacted with Defence and Civil officials at the proposed site and took a brief on the progress achieved so far.
Based on the initiative of Punjab Chief Minister, Shri Parkash Singh Badal, to establish a Services Selection Centre in Northern India, approx 200 acres of land was transferred to the Ministry of Defence in District: Rupnagar. The facility, when established is likely to give a boost to the employment aspirations of the local population aiming to join the Armed Forces. The visit of the Chief of Staff will give the requisite impetus to the process of establishing the facility of a Services Selection Centre at Rupnagar.
