Chandigarh, February 10: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee executive committee member Karnail Singh Panjoli today appealed to Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh to summon former Akali minister Sucha Singh Langah for resorting to naked and unashamed goondaism at Akal Takht yesterday.
Langah made highly objectionable intervention by snatching mike from Dhadi Satnam Singh Lalu Ghuman who, as per his duty, was addressing the sangat and narrating the history of Akali Phula Singh, the warrior Jathedar of Akal Takht. Akali Phula Singh served as the general in the army of Maharaja Ranjit Singh who captured Afghanistan. It was Akali Phula Singh who had summoned Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Akal Takht. Langah objected when he was comparing the present self-centred Akali leadership with selfless leaders like Akali Phula Singh.
Langah, after snatching mike from him, said such Dhadis who provoke Sikhs against the Akali Dal government should not be allowed to use the stage of Akal Takht.
Panjoli said the action of Langah amounted to violation of sanctity of Akal Takht and in case he had any objection, he could have very well brought it to the notice of the Akal Takht Jathedar or the SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar.
He called upon the Akal Takht Jathedar to summon Langah and seek his explanation for this grave misconduct violative of the Sikh maryada.
Panjoli also took up this issue with Makkar and SGPC chief secretary Harcharan Singh. He urged them to maintain sanctity of this holiest of the holy shrine which was their responsibility and not remain mere spectators in the face of such transgression by a senior Akali leader who also happens to be the president of the Gurdaspur district unit of the party.
He also urged party president Sukhbir Singh Badal to discipline such leaders as the issue had deeper ramifications.
