Toronto: Toronto police say a 16-year-old boy is in custody after he was allegedly found to be carrying a real or imitation firearm at a Catholic high school in North York on Tuesday morning.
Const. Victor Kwong said police were called to James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic Secondary School located near Finch Avenue and Keele Street at 11:08 a.m., for a report of a student carrying what appeared to be a gun inside the school.
Kwong said three teachers and a principal tackled the student, restraining him until officers arrived. The boy was arrested on scene and does not appear to have been injured.
Police are still working to determine if the weapon recovered at the scene is a working firearm.
