DRY DAY DECLARED IN 3 KM BELT IN PUNJAB- HARYANA BORDER DISTRICTS ON POLLING & COUNTING DAY
PAID HOLIDAY ANNOUNCED FOR PUNJAB EMPLOYEES HAVING VOTES IN HARYANA
Chandigarh, The Election Commission of India today reviewed the law & order situation with neighboring states of Haryana keeping in view ensuing elections in Haryana on October 15, 2014.
According to spokesman of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) reviewed the situation in video conferencing with the representatives of Punjab, UT of Delhi, Rajsthan, Himachal Pardesh, Uttrakhand and Haryana in which their respective Chief Secretaries, Home Secretaries, DGPs,ADGPs (Election) and representative of Election Commission shared notes on Law & Order situation in the border districts of Haryana.
The Chief Secretary Punjab Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal assuring total cooperation to ECI in smooth conduct of Elections in Haryana said that the official machinery in six neighboring districts of Haryana have been put on alert and 64 Nakas on border with Haryana would be sealed on the day of polling. He said that law & order machinery has been told to keep a check on inter-state border movement. He said that the Punjab Government has already declared dry day in the vends of 3 km border belt with Haryana on the day of polling as well as counting. He said that by a separate notification the Punjab Government has also allowed paid leave to all those residents of Punjab who have vote in Haryana and want to cast their votes on October 15.
In the meeting Chief Electoral Officer Mr. V K Singh and Additional Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Raminder Singh, Mr. CSR Reddy, ADGP (Elections) also briefed the Commission.
