Nuit Blanche, an annual all-night contemporary art festival, along with other upcoming events will make life a little more difficult for downtown motorists this weekend.
Here is a look at some weekend road closures:
NUIT BLANCHE:
To create safer pedestrian access to the hundreds of installations featured at the all-night contemporary art festival, there will be a number of full and partial road closures in the downtown core.
From 3 p.m. on Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday, the southbound lanes of Spadina Avenue, between College Street and Front Street, will be closed. Northbound lanes will be closed between Richmond Street West and Baldwin Street. With the exception of Queen Street West, all major cross streets will remain open.
Queen Street West will be closed between Bay and Cameron streets from 4 p.m. on Saturday until 8 a.m. on Sunday.
Bathurst Street will also have full and partial closures between King Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West from 4 p.m. on Saturday until 8 a.m. on Sunday. Southbound lanes will be closed between King Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West and northbound lanes will be closed from Front Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West. Stewart Street, Wellington Street and Niagara Street will all remain open.
For York Boulevard will be closed from Fleet Street and Spadina Avenue beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday.
Bremner Boulevard will be closed between Spadina Avenue and Lower Simcoe Street beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday and ending at 8 a.m. Sunday.
The TTC will also be extending service to a portion of the subway for the event, which will feature close to 1,000 installations from nearly 4,000 artists.
The Bloor-Danforth line, from Keele to Woodbine, and the Yonge-University-Spadina line, from St. Clair West to Eglinton, will run all night.
CIBC RUN FOR THE CURE:
On Sunday, the annual fundraiser will cause closures and delays from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Rolling closures can be expected within the boundaries of Bloor Street in the north, Beverly Street/ St. George Street in the west, Queen Street in the south and University Avenue/ Queen’s Park in the east.
FIREFIGHTER MEMORIAL:
The northbound lanes of Queen’s Park Crescent from College Street to Grosvenor Street will be closed on Sunday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
