CM APPROVES INTRODUCTION OF A ‘NEW PLAN SCHEME’ TO HONOUR HARD WORKING AND RESILIENT FARMERS OF STATE WITH ANNUAL CASH AWARDS

parkash-singh-badal-lChandigarh, January 28- In order to duly recognize the enterprising and innovative spirit of the Punjabi farmers, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today gave nod for introducing a ‘new plan scheme’ for honouring the hard working and resilient farmers of state with cash awards annually.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the file to this effect was cleared by the Chief Minister here this evening.

As per the decision the scheme was aimed at giving a major push to agriculture and allied sector by recognizing the immense contribution made by the Punjabi farmers. As per this scheme which would be included as a ‘plan scheme’ in ensuing budget three farmers each from agriculture and different categories of animal husbandry would be given a cash prize and honor by the state government every year in recognition to their huge contribution in these fields. This would inculcate a feeling of competition amongst the farmers and motivate them to perform far better in their respective fields.

The Chief Minister has also given nod for constituting a jury headed by the Chairman of Punjab State Farmers’ Commission Dr GS Kalkatt with Vice Chancellors of Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Advisor Animal Husbandry Dr BK Uppal and Member Board of Directors, PAU Mr. Kulwant Singh Ahluwalia as members for selection of awardees for these awards and honors.
