QADIAN (GURDASPUR), January 12: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) bubble will burst sooner than later in Punjab. He said, the AAP wind was only blowing in the air with virtually nothing on the ground excepted a bunch of rejected and worn out leaders from other parties.

“The AAP does not have any policy, any programme or any leader and they cannot go on to win elections by merely abusing everybody”, he said, adding, the Congress did not consider AAP or the SAD-BJP any challenge and it was in a strong position to storm to power with a record majority in 2017 elections.

The former Chief Minister also did not expect much to come out from the commission of inquiry constituted by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif since the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), which controls Jaish-e-Mohammad responsible for Pathankot terror attack, part of it (the inquiry commission). However, he added, there was no way out for the two countries other than talking to each other for permanent peace on the border.

Capt Amarinder, accompanied by Campaign Committee chairperson Ms Ambika Soni, general secretary incharge Shakeel Ahmad, secretary incharge Harish Chaudhary, CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi, former PCC president Partap Singh Bajwa and other senior leaders was here to pay homage to two martyrs Capt Fateh Singh in Jhanda Gujaran and Subedar Kulwant Singh in Chak Sahrif village. Both of them had laid down their lives while fighting terrorists during attack on Pathankot airbase.

In his tributes to the martyred soldiers, the PCC president said, the Gurdaspur area had a great tradition and history of valour and gallantry as so many soldiers had laid down their lives in earlier wars also. He assured the families that he would ensure that their needs were taken due care of.

Later talking to reporters, he pointed out, the AAP was already vertically divided in Punjab. Besides, he added, it was so desperate that it was hunting the leaders from other parties and ending up taking all the rejected political deadwood from the other parties.

The former Chief Minister said, the AAP was surely and certainly going to meet the same fate as that of the People’s Party of Punjab in 2011. He recalled the hype created by the PPP at that time which ended in virtual nothing with PPP not being able to win even a single seat.

About Akali Dal, Capt Amarinder said, there was so much resentment against the party that it may not even find candidates to field from various constituencies. He said, since the Bargadi sacrilege, which everyone rightly believes was done at the behest of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, people are not even prepared to mention their name.

Prominent among those present included Ashwani Sekhri, Charanjeet Kaur Bajwa, Aruna Chaudhary, Rana Gurjeet, Rajneesh Babbi, Shyam Sunder Arora, Sangat Singh Gilzian, Gur Iqbal Kaur Babli, Raman Bhalla, Fateh Jang Bajwa and others.
