Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Patiala, On a day when three new meet records were created, Punjabi University (Patiala) occupied the first position at the 76th All India Inter University Athletics Championship. After the end of the third day, Punjabi University have 120 points in their kitty, while MGU Kottayam are second with 91 points and Mangalore University third with 90 points.
In the women’s shot put, Manpreet Kaur of Punjabi University won the gold with a throw of 15.84m, ahead of Navjeet Kaur of Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar) and Namitha GK of Mangalore University.
V Laxmi of Lucknow University won the women’s 3,000m steeplechase with a new record of 10 minutes, 55.85 seconds. The silver was won by Preet Lamba of MD University (Rohtak) in 11:03.93, while Preet Chaudhary of Punjabi University won the bronze (11:07.42).
A new record was made in the men’s 3000m steeplechase too, Manikanandan M. of Bharathidasan University winning the gold with a time of 9:18.37.
Anuj Kumar of MD University (Rohtak) won the pole vault gold with a new record of 4.90m. Sonu of Punjabi University won the silver (4.90m) while Shiva of Madras University won the bronze.
