Durham Regional Police say a 23-year-old man is in custody after a suspect was seen masturbating near the doors to a’s birthing unit on Dec. 22.
At 4:30 a.m. that day, police said a man was seen in security camera footage behaving suspiciously near the doors to the birthing unit at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa. Hospital staff dispatched security guards to the scene but the suspect had fled the area by the time security arrived, police said.
During a review of surveillance camera footage from the time of the incident, the suspect was allegedly seen masturbating near the front doors of the birthing unit.
On Dec. 24, a warrant was issued for the arrest of a suspect believed to be in Oshawa.
On Tuesday, Stephen Kirk was arrested and charged with committing an indecent act and failure to comply with recognizance.
He is expected to appear in court somewhere in Durham Region today.
