Fatehgarh Sahib, December 28:  In yet another embarrassment to the ruling dispensation, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Avtar Singh Makkar was not allowed to speak by the devotees from the stage of Gurdwara Jyoti Sarup while Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh preferred not to take the risk keeping in view hostile mood at the concluding function of the 3-day Jor Mela in the memory of two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh who were bricked alive.

Gurdwara Jyoti Sarup is the place near Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib where they were cremated by Diwan Todar Mal after purchasing the land in gold.

On the third day, procession is taken out from Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib that concludes at Gurdwara Jyoti Sarup. Devotees are addressed from this gurdwara stage by religious leaders including SGPC chief and Takht jathedars. Takht Keshgarh Sahib and Takht Damdama Sahib jatherdars were conspicuous by their absence. Stage secretary happened to be SGPC executive committee member Karnail Singh Panjoli.

Panjioli spoke for about 20 minutes paying tributes to the martyrs and stressing upon Panthic traditions as introduction to the function. However, as he announced Makkar to be the next speaker, devotees started raising slogan of “Bole So Nihaal, Sat Sri Akaal” and this went on and on. Makkar decided not to speak.

Then Panjoli is learnt to have advised Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh against getting hooted down. The function was closed within minutes and Ardas performed.

It may be mentioned that Makkar was disrupted in a similar manner two days back.
