AAP worker framed:Faridkot villagers

23

Faridkot, Residents of Sarawan village and AAP workers today staged a dharna outside the SSP’s office in Faridkot. They alleged the police had been intimidating those who supported the family of Gurjeet Singh, a protester who was killed in police firing at Behbal Kalan on October 14.
The protesters alleged that the Bajakhana police in Faridkot had registered a “dubious” case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Makhan Singh of Sarawan village on the basis of a complaint.
Makhan Singh was an AAP worker and much to the chagrin of the police, he was the front runner in helping the family of deceased Gurjeet after his killing in police firing, alleged the protesters.
To settle score with him, immediately after receiving a complaint against Makhan Singh, the police not only registered a case against him for “hurling caste-based abuses”, but also over 20 policemen were sent to lay siege to Makhan’s house for his arrest. Makhan’s family alleged that even Akali leaders of Sarawan were annoyed with him as the whole act had posed big trouble for the police. The SSP, Faridkot, today deputed the Jaitu DSP to inquire into the complaint.
