TORONTO — The Canadian dollar and U.S. stock market futures were positive early Monday.
The loonie was up 0.04 of a cent at 71.75 cents US.
The Dow Jones futures were up 119.0 points at 17,1360, the broader S&P 500 index advanced 16.1 points to 2,008.0 and the Nasdaq gained 36 points to 4,540.5.
On the commodity markets, the February gold contract rose $7.40 to US$1,072.40 an ounce, the February crude contract was down 33 cents at US$35.73 per barrel and the January contract for natural gas was up four cents at US$1.81.
On Friday, the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX index gained 14.37 points to close at 13,024.30.
