Chandigarh, November 26: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee today sanctioned 8 per cent dearness allowance for its employees.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of its executive committee.
According to another decision, the SGPC would provide assistance to the gurdwaras which are not in a position to get CCTV cameras installed to check increasing incidence of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar called upon the local managing committees of the shrines to maintain strict vigilance.
It was decided to construct 250-room serai at Anamdpur Sahib for pilgrims.
Talking to media persons, Makkar decried the tendency to construct caste based gurdwaras. It may be mentioned that as per the doctrine of this religion, Sikh society is supposed to be casteless and classless but the Sikhs continue to be casteist.
