Chandigarh, November 16: The Congress vice-president Mr Rahul Gandhi would lead a 21-member party delegation to the President, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, to demand time bound probe by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court into the unprovoked police firing on peaceful protesters in which two persons were killed at Behbal Kalan in Faridkot district last month.

Mr Gandhi, during his visit to the families of the two firing victims Gurmit Singh and Krishan Bhagwan Singh, had promised to take up the case at the highest level in the country. The police had opened fire on people sitting on a dharna peacefully in protest against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari village in which two persons were killed and 37 others injured.

The state party chief Mr Partap Singh Bajwa said the delegation would include AICC General Secretary and Secretary incharge of Punjab affairs, Secretaries AICC, PPCC President, Deputy Leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party in Lok Sabha, CLP Leader, Former PPCC Presidents and IYC President and all sitting Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from Punjab.

Mr Bajwa said the FIR registered in the case was blind as no accused responsible for firing had been named in it that amounted to hoodwinking the people.

He said the delegation would submit a memorandum in this regard to Mr Mukherjee at a meeting on November 19 2015(Thursday) at 5.30 PM.

He asserted the Congress was determined to get justice to the aggrieved families as besides the killing of these two persons, 37 others had been injured.
