Modi visits forward areas in Amritsar and Ferozepur

madiChandigarh, November 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today visited the area of responsibility of Vajra core to commemorate the completion of 50 years of India’s victory over Pakistan in 1965.

He was accompanied by army chief General Dalbir Singh. It was on this land of Vajra Corps where all major and decisive battles of 1965 Indo-Pak war were fought thus earning the name of ‘Defenders of Punjab’.

The Prime Minister and the Chief of Army Staff laid wreaths at the Barki War Memorial at Ferozepur and Abdul Hamid memorial in Asal Uttar near Khemkaran to pay homage to the brave soldiers of the Vajra Corps. Lt Gen KJ Singh, GOC-in-C Western Command and Lt Gen JS Cheema, VSM, GOC Vajra Corps were also present.

Later, the Prime Minister interacted with all ranks of the ‘Vajra Corps’ conveying Diwali wishes and exhorted them to re-dedicate themselves in service of the nation.
