York Regional Police say 22 men were arrested over a four-day period in connection with a prostitution investigation involving underage girls.
Investigators say a four-day blitz was launched between Nov. 2 and Nov. 5 targeting people who attempted to solicit sexual services from underage sex-trade workers.
The blitz was part of a bigger project dubbed ‘Project Raphael,’ which police say is focused on the exploitation of underage girls that are being advertised online.
All 22 suspects were arrested at hotels in York Region and a total of 65 charges have been laid, including obtaining sexual services for consideration from a person under 18 years, luring a child for the purpose of obtaining sexual services for consideration from a person under 18, and agreement or arrangement to obtain sexual services for consideration from a person under 18.
Police say the sentences for the charges listed above range from 90 days to a maximum of 10 years.
