Punjab gives relaxation in norms for developing Multi-storyed Housing Projects

Chandigarh, Keeping in view the long pending demand of public for affordable housing, the Local Bodies Minster Mr. Anil Joshi has taken a very positive step by giving nod for increase of permissible dwelling units from existing 60 numbers per acre to 75 numbers per acre for multi-storyed housing projects within the Municipal limits of Punjab.

Disclosing this an official spokesman said that this decision would go a long way in sustaining the overall feasibility of the various housing projects which were struck up mid way and not serving the intended purpose for which they were to come up. He said that since, smaller housing units were not being constructed because of the existing ceiling of 60 Dwelling Units per acre. He said that thereby leading to the construction of bigger units at higher cost which was out of the reach for general public to buy. He said that this relaxation would prove a boon for smaller dwelling units coming up in the affordable price tag, which is a significant decision as now the dream of the common man to own a house has finally comes true.
