Chandigarh, November 5: The Punjab Pradesh Congress President Mr Partap Singh Bajwa hit back at the Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, saying he was scared of his own acts of omission and commission and his fifth term was the culmination of his failures in all fields leading to the present mass upsurge that his government had tried to crush under the iron heels of the police leading to the murder of two persons in Behbal kalan.

“You are rattled by the response the young Mr Rahul Gandhi has got from the people in Bargari area that too what at one time used to be the Akali bastion. You can’t wash away your sins by attacking the Congress leader on issues that go back to three decades. You should have come out with some fresh ammunition. Moreover, both Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh have apologized for what happened in in 1984. However, it is time you confessed your own culpability in Operation Bluestar rather than misleading the people”, he told Mr Badal.

The PPCC chief charged Mr Badal with giving tacit approval to Operation Bluestar at a secret meeting with the Union Home Minister Mr P V Narsimha Rao in Delhi on March 28, 1984. He reminded that Mr Badal that he himself had been using the word terrorist for those who were inside the Golden Temple complex when the army undertook the operation to flush out secessionist elements. Mr Badal should tell the word as to how should be terrorists be treated.

He also questioned Mr Badal as to whether he himself had visited the house of any victim of November 1984 mayhem or the family of any farmer who had committed suicide. He said Mr Gandhi was touring the entire country visiting the farmers and he happened to be the only leader who opposed tooth and nail the move of the Narendra Modi government to dilute the land acquisition legislation to appease the corporates. He said Mr Badal needed to tell the people whether the amendment bill was opposed by the minister from the Akali Dal, in this case Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal, in the cabinet or not.

He said Mr Badal should stop shedding crocodile tears as the grassroot reality had now started haunting him. He said it was time for him to say quits.
