54 Teachers found absent, 64 late comers and 36 long time absentee
Chandigarh, In order to check the tendency of long time absentees’ in the government schools and ensure absolute discipline in the academic institutions, the surprise checking would continue in all the government schools. As a part of this campaign the especially constitutes Special Monitoring Cell has conducted surprise checks in 674 schools across the state. During the checking in total 54 teachers were found absent and 64 teachers were the late comers. It was also found that 36 teachers had not been attending the schools since long.
Disclosing this here today Punjab Education Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that surprise checking was a part of consistent campaign launched by the education department to make sure the 100 per cent attendance in the schools and to maintain discipline. He said that all the explanations of absentee teachers would be called for and those found absent from the schools since long time would be charge sheeted. Dr. Cheema categorically said that each school would be randomly covered under this drive and even the same school could be checked for the second time by the authorities, if required.
In a press communiqué Dr. Cheema said that special monitoring cell of the education department started surprise checking in the schools in the morning. He said that immediately after opening the schools special teams visited 203 schools of Jalandhar Circle, 230 schools of Nabha (Patiala) Circle and 241 schools of Faridkot Circle.
He further said that 9 teachers were found absent in Jalandhar Circle and 31 were late comers while 8 found long time absentee. In Nabha (Patiala) Circle 12 teachers were found absent, 8 late comers and 16 were long time absentee. Similarly, in Faridkot Circle 33 teachers were found absent, 25 late comers and 12 were found long time absentee.
Dr. Cheema further said that to maintain discipline and punctuality in the Government Schools special and surprise checking would continue in future also. He also directed to the senior officers that 100 percent attendance of the teachers would be ensured.
