Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, October 2: Punjab Agriculture Director Mangal Singh Sandhu today denied that he had mentioned the Chief Minister’s Office or Agriculture Minister Tota singh regarding the purchase of pesticides by the department.
He said his statement had been distorted by a section of the media.
He asserted no rules had been violated in the purchase of the pesticides.
It may be mentioned that Dr Sandhu was removed from the post following uproar in the cotton belt against Rs 33 crore pesticide scam. Cotton crop has been destroyed in large part of the cotton belt due to the attack of white fly. the situation has been compounded due to spurious and sub-standard pesticides.
Sandhu has been reinstated on the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
