CHANDIGARH, September 27: Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today condemned the CBI raids on the residence of the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on the day of the wedding of his daughter, yesterday.
In a statement released here today, Capt Amarinder said, it only betrayed the extreme extent of vindictiveness and political vendetta indulged in by the current NDA regime against its political opponents.
“Heavens would not have fallen had the CBI waited for a few days if at all it really needed to conduct raids on various premises and places related to Mr Vibhadra Singh as it was the day of marriage of his daughter”, the former Punjab Chief Minister remarked, while adding, it was a shameful and scornful act done at the behest of the political rivals of the HP CM.
“Legal and political battles should better be fought legally and politically and not with a feeling of vendetta and vengeance to the extent of trying to disrupt as important a function as the wedding of one’s daughter that even your sworn enemies will not do”, Capt Amarinder said, while remarking, “the very timing of the raids and the way these were carried out only revealed the disgusting and scornful intent of those who ordered these”.
