* Sukhbir Badal assures to raise issue with union government
Chandigarh, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that issue of variation in the prices of different brands of drugs having same salt would be taken up with the Union Health, Petroleum and Chemical Ministries to streamline the price structure in the interest of patients.
In a meeting with delegation of Punjab Medical Council, Mr. Badal said that “it was a matter of great concern to every citizen and he would personally meet union health minister Dr. Harsha Vardhan in this regard”.
On the issue of inspection of medical colleges by Medical Council of India, the Deputy Chief Minister also assured the delegation that matter would be discussed with a health department if need be there Punjab Government would amend medical act to involve Punjab Medical Council in that process.
To take care of interests of state paramedical faculty at par with medical faculty, Mr. Badal announced that necessary instructions would be issued to health department to collect the data about lab technicians, X-ray technicians and operation theatre technicians.
The delegation also informed the deputy chief minister that Punjab Medical Council office is housing in rented building that would has to be vacated due to court case its owner. The council demanded to allot 500 yards plot at SAS Nagar to construct its headquarters. Deputy Chief Minister assured the delegation full support in this regard.
