Toronto: A major downtown intersection will be shut down for several hours today to make room for the Open Streets Toronto Festival.
A stretch of Yonge Street will be closed to traffic between Bloor Street and Queen Street while a section of Bloor Street will be closed between Christie Street/Grace Street and Parliament Street.
The closures will be last from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Vehicles can still cross Bloor Street at Christie, Grace, Bathurst, George, Bay, Church, Sherbourne and Parliament streets, as well as at Avenue Road and Ted Rogers Way.
Vehicles will be able to cross Yonge Street at Wellesley, College/Carlton, Gerrard, Dundas, Shuter and Queen streets.
Area businesses will still be open during the festival.
Officials are encouraging people to use transit where possible to avoid the closures.
