CM HOLD MEETINGS FOR FINALIZING ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE INAUGURATION OF INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AT MOHALI ON SEPTEMBER 11

Chandigarh, September 4- Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today held a series of meetings, here at Punjab Bhawan, with the senior leaders of the SAD-BJP included Cabinet Ministers, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs besides the officers of the state government to finalize the arrangements for the inauguration of international airport at Mohali onSeptember 11.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the Chief Minister Office said that Mr. Badal exhorted the leaders of SAD-BJP and the top brass of the government to ensure huge participation of the people from different walks of life on this historic event. He said that with the opening of International airport at Mohali Punjab has scripted a new chapter of its unending success story. Mr. Badal pointed out that the International Air connectivity from Mohali was all the more important because it would connect the entire Northern region comprising Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttrakhand and even the Western part of Uttar Pradesh with the rest of the world.

The Chief Minister said that in the absence of this international airport daily a large number of passengers from the Northern states were left with no other option but to travel Delhi for boarding the international flights, which not only caused undue harassment to them but also resulted in huge wastage of time, money and energy. He said that the inauguration of this airport would facilitate the people of
region especially from Punjab besides wooing the leading entrepreneurs
across the world to make huge investments in the state. Mr. Badal envisioned this airport as a catalyst to propel Industrialization in the state besides showcasing
Punjab as the most preferred investment destination. “This is really a momentous occasion for the Punjabis as the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and other dignitaries would participate in this function, thus all of us should strive hard to make it a gala event” he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister deputed the Education Minister and Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema and his Advisor Mr. Tikshan Sud to overall supervise the arrangements and logistics for organizing this mega event.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Special Principal Secretary Mr. Gaggandip Singh Brar.
