CHANDIGARH, September 3: Senior Congress leader and Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh today questioned the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal’s claims about his “successful” South Korea visit.
“At best it was joyride for the Deputy Chief Minister and his overcrowded entourage aimed at justifying the massive burden put on the state exchequer without getting anything”, Rana said in a statement issued here today.
Rana observed that apparently taking cue from his Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who spends more time abroad than in India, the Deputy Chief Minister has made it a regular feature of his itinerary to visit at least one foreign country every month. “And he did not break this routine of foreign trips when Gurdaspur faced a terror attack as he preferred to be in Poland during that time”, he remarked.
“Every time Sukhbir visits abroad we are told that that particular country like China and Poland are going to make huge investments in Punjab”, he pointed out, and now the lie has been extended to South Korea as well. Rana challenged Sukhbir to make South Korea to make a single investment Punjab, leave aside setting up industrial park here.
The Congress leader dared the Deputy CM to come out with one single claim where the memorandum of understanding has been implemented. “Rather during his Korea visit he did not even sign an MOU, what to speak of its implementation”, he remarked, while adding, Sukhbir had not stopped to sell his day dreams which are never realised.
Rana pointed out, two years ago, Sukhbir organised a ‘progressive investors meet’ with a promise of lakhs of crores of investment. “Even after the passage of two years we are yet to see a single penny coming to Punjab”, he said, while advising the Deputy Chief Minister to stop fooling the people of the state who know him too well to buy his fake promises and false dreams any more.
