Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, September 3:With the countdown for the replacement of Punjab Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa having already started, All India Congress Committee general secretary and incharge of Punjab affairs Shakeel Ahmed was urgently summoned to Delhi earlier in the day.
Ahmed, who is also looking after Haryana and Chandigarh, was having his scheduled meetings when he received the message.
he was to leave by the evening Shatabadi Express but had to leave suddenly by road in the afternoon.
It may be mentioned that Bajwa had met both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul gandhi yesterday amidst speculation about his replacement being demanded by former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh who has refused to work with him. he had met Sonia a day ahead of Bajwa.
Punjab is considered to be the state from where the Congress can hope to stage a comeback provided the party is fully united and in a position to confront the Akali Dal-BJP combine aggressively.
