Driving Naari Programme launched in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, September 2: The Congress party MLAs Mr.Lal Singh, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Parminder Singh , Gurkirat Singh Kotli & MP Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu today warned the state Bharatiya Janata Party president Mr Kamal Sharma against harassment of their party activists.
They said Mr Sharma would be personally responsible for any harm done to their party leaders in Ferozepur.
They specifically referred to the attempt on the life of the Ferozepur district Congress President Mr Chamkaur Singh Dhindsa by four unidentified men Yesterday Evening when he had gone to take a round of his fields. The four persons were in a swift car without number plates. They ran away when he challenged them as he was carrying his licensed weapon. This was not an isolated incident.
“Mr Sharma is virtually running a mafia in Ferozepur district”, they alleged.
They said Mr Dhindsa was the leader who had been vociferously taking up the issue of the association of Mr Sharma with the people who have recently been arrested in cases of corruption, drugs and illegal weapons. They include his personal assistant Jimmy Sandhu. The names of several other associates of Mr Sharma have surfaced in this case.
These MLA,s and Mr Bittu asserted that their campaign against such elements, particularly against the drug smugglers, would continue. They said earlier, only the names of the Akali leaders had come to be associated with such elements.
They urged the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi to order probe in drug smuggling in the state going on under the patronage of both the Akali as well as the BJP leaders as the issue involved the national security and future of the youth. They said some of the associates of Mr Sharma had also figured in the fake currency racket that was being smuggled from across the border and as such, this issue posed a serious problem.
