BATHINDA/ MANSA, AUGUST 25 – All women and girls associated with the Nanhi Chaan NGO as well as those of the model village Mann will get an insurance cover of ten years on the occasion of Rakhar Punia under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
Disclosing this here today, Food Processing Industry minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal announced she would distribute PMSBY cards to the girls and women under the Nanhi Chhan Foundation at a function to be held in Bathinda and Mansa on August 27. “I am taking this step as an elder sister to safeguard the interests of the families who are working selflessly for the betterment of society”, she said. Besides this 10 year insurance cover will also be provided to all the women of Mann village adopted under Adarsh Gram Yojna by the Union Minister on the occasion of Rakhar Puniya.
Mrs Badal said both steps would be a path breaking initiative resulting in provision of essential social security protection in the unfortunate event of death by any cause / death or disability due to an accident. The Union Minister added that Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) PMSBY will offer accidental death cum disability cover of Rupees Two Lakh (Rupees One Lakh for partial permanent disability) to all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18 to 70 years for a premium of Rs. 12/- per annum per subscriber.
Meanwhile in a simultaneous development, the Union minister appealed to all brothers to bestow insurance covers on the sacred occasion of Rakhar Puniya and Raksha Bandhan to their sisters. She said the festival of Raksha Bandhan symbolised the sacred relationship of brothers and sisters. “It would be in then be in the fitness of things for brothers to gift Insurance cover to their sisters. The Union Minister was in Badal village to attend the bhog ceremony of a relative.
