* A GRANT OF RS.5.5 LAKH UNDER SCHEME “SWACH BHARAT CAMPAIGN ” RELEASED
Chandigarh,August25: Punjab State Schedule Cast Schedule Tribal Commission’s order has solved the three years pending sewage problem of village Chaddiyan of district Roopnagar. Chairman SC/ST Commission,Mr. Rajesh Bagga said that Schedule Cast residents of village have complained regarding worst conditions of the residential area where they were susceptible to many diseases due to unhygienic surrounding.
Mr. Bagga said that Panchayat member Balwinder Singh and others alleged that newly built two feet increased height of road has blocked sewage flow that effected specifically houses of SC’s commune. They have been complaining to higher officials regarding the issue for the last three years but they put deaf ears after that they brought this serious issue to the notice of the commission.
He further said that on the basis of complaint SC/ST Commission has summoned the District Development and Block Officer though department issued a grant of Rs.5.5 lakh under scheme “Swach Bharat Campaign ” . The Rural Development department has constructed six hundred nine feet long drain for sewage. He said that half kilometre of temporary drain was made for mentioned area which was linked with small pond for sewage water.
