The Chief Minister continues to run roughshod to promote business

Chandigarh, August 7: People’s Party of Punjab Manpreet Singh Badal today said it was not only shocking but also astounding that despite two major incidents that rocked the state, the buses owned by the ruling First Family of Parkash Singh Badal continued to ply their buses illegally as evident from the impounding of such buses by a gutsy young IPS officer in Dasuya. The ruling First Family should choose either business or politics to end the exploitation of administration for personal gains.

“After the impounding of Orbit company bus plying on the Ludhiana-Pathankot route without any paper, now no evidence is needed as to how the entire state apparatus has been tweaked by the ruling family to promote its business interests. Even the driver was without a driving licence. One fails to understand as to what type of orientation course was organised by the Badals for the staff of their transport companies after the molestation and death of a young girl involving their staff”, he said.

He alleged violations of all norms according to which there should be no conflict of business interests of the rulers but here it was naked and unabashed continuation of the same phenomenon. He said one had expected that the situation might change for the better after what had happened in the state. He recalled that a senior judicial officer in Mohali had to recently intervene to get stopped the menace created by these buses which are parked on the roadside. He said the coming up of an illegal story in Mohali for these buses was an old story about which nothing had been done.

He called upon Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who now controlled the entire transport business as to how come that such violations continued unabated as it amounted to causing direct loss to the state exchequer to promote family business illegally.

He reiterated that the situation called for a high level probe into such affairs as recently, yet another case of business interests had come to light in the construction of a 100 foot wide village link road to connect Pallanpur where the CM’s personal luxury resort was coming up.
