Chandigarh, August 7: The Punjab Congress President Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today demanded investigation of senior leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party by CBI who are allegedly involved in the drug smuggling. He asked Sh. Narender Modi Prime Minister of India to come up to his commitment of eradicating the drug menace from Punjab. He also advised Mr. Modi not to do “Mann Ki Baat” only but listen to the Punjab’s “Mann Ki Baat” also.
Mr. Bajwa said that I have been seeking a CBI probe in to the drug racket and my stand is vindicated by these revelations. Today not only the SAD Badal but their alliance partner BJP is also involved in the drug racket. Already senior leaders of BJP and their accomplices have been named in the drug racket. Even FIR has also has been registered against some of them. Bajwa reiterated his demand for comprehensive probe by the CBI to unearth this deep rooted scam as the ruling combine was playing with the future of the state.
The PPCC chief said Punjab had been turned into drug haven with the direct involvement of the leaders from the ruling Akali Dal-BJP alliance thereby ruining the youth of the state.
“This alliance is for hurting the future of Punjab and leading the state towards total ruination rather its being a non-political relationship as claimed by the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal. I too now agree that it is not just a political alliance. It is an alliance of the mafia as the names of Akali ministers have already surfaced with one of them having been forced to resign while efforts are on to protect others. With the involvement of BJP leaders too, it is now amply clear as to why efforts are being made to stonewall all investigations, including by the Enforcement Directorate”, he asserted.
Mr Bajwa made it clear that the Congress would build public pressure besides taking other recourse for probe by independent agency like CBI in the mafia operations in Punjab.
