BJP SETS HIGH MORAL GROUNDS BY TAKING RESIGNATIONS OF KATORA, SANDHU: CHUGH

Congress should tell when its party took such a stand

Amritsar, Reacting strongly over the statements being issued by the Congress demanding the resignation of the BJP State President Kamal Sharma on the issue of the registration of the FIR on expelled leaders of the BJP Ferozepur unit Jagtar Singh Katora and Jimmi Sandhu, the saffron party’s national secretary Tarun Chugh has stated that “It was Kamal Sharma, who had expelled Katora and Sandhu, even before fingers were pointed at them. By doing so Kamal Sharma has set a high moral standard in politics and should be applauded.” In a strongly worded statement, Chugh condemned the Congress party, while arguing that “Whether Congress had set such an example in the past. Whether Congress leaders ever quit their chair over such issues. Baffled with the fact that Congress was fast losing ground in the state, now the Congress leaders have started issuing unwarranted statements.” Chugh further said that Kamal Sharma had taken the resignation of Katora and Sandhu immediately when their names had surfaced. Notwithstanding the fact that Congress should appreciate the high moral standards set up by Kamal Sharma, the party was setting wrong precedent by demanding Sharma’s resignation. Recalling the tenure of the Congress-led UPA government, Chugh said that accusations of corruption and criminalization in politics were leveled against leaders of the Congress from grassroot level to party’s top brass but every time, Congress had tried to brush aside the matter under the carpet. “Congress has a tradition of shielding its tainted party leaders. It is ridiculous that party with such a corrupt fabric is training its guns on Kamal Sharma, who not only enjoys a clean image but has already set high standards by taking resignations of Katora and Sandhu”, stated Chugh. The BJP national secretary further said that Kamal Sharma’s credentials are known to everyone in Punjab and he do not need any certificate from the Congress.
