The state of Punjab should have more serious approach to tackle the drug menace which has already taken toll of the youth of Punjab. Pitching for drug free Punjab, S Deepinder Singh Randhawa, Candidate for President Punjab Youth Congress, today said that in the last eight years of Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP rule this drug menace has multiplied, and that has directly affected the younger generation in Punjab. The drugs are flowing freely and available easily in every corner of Punjab. There is nexus between the politicians and then police for patronizing the drug trade.
Deepinder said that being a candidate for the President Punjab Youth Congress, my vision towards my youth will be that my state of Punjab should be drug free. We will organize awareness camps, medical camps, Raid the illegal centres supplying drugs, run special campaigns through social media to aware the youth of Punjab. Today the ruling government has failed to control the drug menace, now it’s the turn of the youth of Punjab to awaken against the system and make the Punjab resurgent and vibrant.
Lambasting on the Chief Minister Of Punjab S Parkash Singh Badal, S Deepinder Singh Randhawa said that the Drug prevention board was formed by the government after this issue was taken up by the Punjab youth congress in the year 2011 but till today nothing has been done by this board to control the drug menace in Punjab. The Punjab also formed the Youth Development Board but nothing concrete was done by it also for the betterment of the youth. Even the members are not taken into confidence before making any policy decision. The congress vice president Sh Rahul Gandhi took up the issue of drugs in Punjab and publically announced the figures of drug addicts.
S Deepinder Singh Randhawa said that Going by the recent survey more than six lacs drug addicts are registered by government in different centres and hospitals, while the actual data will be atleast ten times of this. This is big cause of concern for the Punjab youth.
