Punjab mandates all establishments to pay its workers through cheque’s or online

Chandigarh,23 July : The Punjab Government today took a path breaking step directing all factories and commercial establishments and shops to pay wages to their workers either by cheque or transfer the wages directly or online in the bank account of workers.
According to an official spokesman the Labour Department today issued a notification that in all the Factories registered under the Factories Act, 1948 and all Shops and Commercial Establishments registered under the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishment Act, 1958 the employers would pay wages to the workers either by cheque or by crediting the wages in their bank account. The spokesman said that it is a step taken in the direction of ensuring transparent labour relations besides checking exploitation and underpayment of workers.
