Toronto– An Air Transat flight that was en-route to Toronto from Rome was diverted to Dublin on Friday morning after smoke was detected in the cabin.
According to a spokesperson with the airline, Air Transat Flight 315 landed safely in Dublin “for a precautionary technical verification” after traces of smoke were first discovered.
The source of the smoke is not immediately clear.
The plane was carrying 313 passengers and 12 crewmembers.
The plane is the exact same one that ran out of gas and glided over the ocean for 18 minutes before landing in the Azores in August, 2001.
