Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Toronto, the GTA and much of southern Ontario as a hefty bout of wet weather heads toward the region.
The national weather agency says thunderstorms and heavy rain will likely hit the Toronto area late this morning and some local rainfall amounts could reach between 20 to 40 millimetres or higher.
Showers are expected to clear out this evening and the temperature in the city will likely top out at around 25C today.
Wednesday and Thursday appear to be more promising, with sunny skies and temperatures in the low to mid 20s in the forecast.
The rain, however, could resurface this weekend.
Environment Canada is calling for a 30 per cent chance of rain on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
