Amritsar, Jul 14 : BJP National Secretary Tarun Chugh today alleged that Capt Amarinder Singh, the sitting Congress MP from Amritsar has not done anything for his constituency.
Chugh alleged Amarinder, after being elected from Amritsar had been ignoring the city and has not spared even a minute to raise issues pertaining to the historic holy city and its people.
Chugh termed Amarinder’s mass contact campaign as a ploy to grab the post of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief from his bete noire Partap Singh Bajwa.
“He is not offering any alternative. In fact he is after power within the Congress only as he knows better than most of the politicians that there was no scope of revival of Congress in the state,” Chugh alleged.
Alleging that Amrinder has failed to spare even five complete days for Amritsar, Chugh claimed that Arun Jaitley has left no stone unturned for the development of Amritsar and for the welfare of the people of Amritsar.
Chugh said, “Jaitley’s efforts for the city have brought a IIM and it is tipped to be developed as a smart City. Moreover the city is being accorded Heritage status.
“Besides this, Modi government has granted Rs 25 crore to extend the gallery meant for Retreat Ceremony at Indo-Pak border and announced a road project from Amritsar to Harike Pattan.
“Apart from this a Rs.5.66 crore Drug de-addiction centre was coming up at Medical College,” he added.
