Chandigarh July 12 : Free lance political commentator and author
Harcharan Bains said here this evening that he has almost completed a
book based on events around the life of the legendary Punjab Chief
Minister Parkash SIngh Badal.
Talking to some media persons, ‘My book is biographical but not a
biography. It is a political and philosophical take on the robust
and at times even tragic history of
the people of Punjab since 1935,especially the dance of death after
partition. The book
is definitely on,”said Bains who is also Advisor to the Chief Minister on National Affairs and Media.
Asked to comment on the Chief Minister’s “advice” to him not to
undertake “the thankless task” (Panga na lao) of writing a book on him,
Bains said that Badal has “always been a shy icon, and always put
the spotlight on the state, the party and the government, rather than
on himself. The Chief Minister has always been unhappy about an
authorized biography of him as he feels embarrassed by publicity for
his legendary stature..I know where his advice is coming from, and I
fully respect that..”
