Patiala: Activists of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held protests in Patiala, Rajpura and Samana against the Vyapam scam reported in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh. Party activists gathered at Nehru Park in Patiala on Saturday evening and organised a protest.

A passing-out parade was held at the Border Security Force (BSF) subsidiary training centre, Kharkan, on Saturday. In all, 148 recruits, including 30 women, successfully completed their nine-month training.

1 dies while cleaning pistol
Rattanveer Singh (25) of Bhuleria village accidentally shot himself dead while cleaning his pistol on Saturday. His father Harjeet Singh informed the police about the incident. The body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.

The Hajipur police have booked Savinder Singh on the charge of murdering his wife. His friend Raj Kumar of Dhadekatwal has also been booked. The couple got married just 15 days ago.

1 booked for murder
A 30-year-old woman from Pehwa, Haryana, died at Budh Mor village in Patiala district after her boyfriend Balkar Singh allegedly gave her an overdose of sedatives. A case has been registered against Balkar on the complaint of the victim’s parents.

Woman poisoned
Amandeep Kaur (30) was allegedly beaten and then forcibly administered some pesticide by her husband Harvinder Singh after she failed to bring more dowry from her parents at Khote village in Nihalsinghwala subdivision of the Moga district. A case has been registered, but Harvinder is yet to be arrested.

Cashier embezzles Rs 19 lakh
Kulan Walia, a cashier of Allahabad Bank, Patti branch, has been booked for allegedly embezzling over Rs 19 lakh from the bank. The accused is still at large.
