BADALS MUST CHOOSE BUSINESS OR POLITICS AGAINST MOUNTING PUBLIC WRATH: AMARINDER

CHANDIGARH, July 11: Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Capt Amarinder Singh today said that time had come for the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his family to make a choice between business or politics before the mounting public wrath gets out of control and assumes dangerous proportions as was seen at Moga and now in Ropar. “The anger against Badals is mounting in such an alarming proposition that time is not very far when they will have to hide and run for their lives”, he warned.

Reacting to the death caused by one of the Badals’ buses in Ropar and the spontaneous public anger and outrage over the way the police and administration tried to hush it up and blame someone else, Capt Amarinder said, during his 47 years in public life he had never seen such anger and hatred against anyone as he has been noticing against the Badals.

“Why is it that the mere mention of your (Badals’) name brings out spontaneous anger and outrage in people?” the former Chief Minister asked Badal, while adding, it was time for Mr Badal to think that why after over seven decades of being in politics and public life if he had earned anything, other than his unaccountable wealth, it was only widespread public hostility and hatred which was mounting day by day.

He said, he had learnt that the Badals were once again trying to buy peace with the Ropar accident victim’s family and wriggle out of the situation. “But how long can you do that; break the law with all impunity and then negotiate a deal, using your entire state machinery for the purpose?” he asked, saying, the Badals were using their power only to promote and protect their business interests.

“Given the situation, anybody in Mr Badal’s place would have made a graceful exit to at least salvage and redeem some respect and image (if anything was left)”, he observed, adding, “but in case of Mr Badal, nothing matters…neither the confidence nor the respect of public and what matters for him is wealth and more wealth as his greed still remains unsatiated after assets and properties worth thousands of crores he has accumulated during the political career”.
