Chandigarh, July 10- Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the legendary Poet Sardar Anjum who passed away at a private hospital in Mohali on Thursday after a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister described Sardar Anjum as a “great poet who made an outstanding contribution for the cementing the bond of communal harmony and brotherhood in the society through his pen”. Recalling the literary services of Sardar Anjum, Mr. Badal said that he was an imminent Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi litterateur who would ever inspire the budding artistes through his prolific writings. Lauding the fine qualities of head and heart in Sardar Anjum, he said that these qualities made him an equally excellent poet in the three languages of Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi.
The Chief Minister said that in the death of the renowned poet Sardar Anjum a void had been created in literary circles which was difficult to be filled in the near future. He further said that Sardar Anjum’s services for strengthening the ethos of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood through the medium of poetry would be ever remembered by one and all. “We have lost an illustrious son of the soil who had left an indelible imprint in the highly creative field of poetry” added Mr. Badal.
Sharing his heart-felt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to give them courage and strength to bear this irreparable loss and grant peace to the departed soul.
