RAJESH BAGHA MEETS JIYANI REGARDING FORCIBLE CONVERSION OF RAVIDASIA SIKH

PHOTO-700x494HEALTH DEPARTMENT ALSO INSTRUCTED TO LAUNCH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AGAINST QUACKS
Chandigarh, July 10: The Chairman of Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Mr. Rajesh Bagha met Health Minister Mr. Surjit Kumar Jiyani and discussed the issue of forcible conversion of a Ravidasia Sikh to Muslim faith.

He also stressed upon the Minister to instruct the Health Department to launch an awareness campaign regarding prevention of diseases and against unregistered quacks. Mr. Bagha said that the unregistered quacks play with the health of the people and are often not registered with the Health Department and the department also doesn’t has any record of the medicines being prescribed/sold by these quacks. He said that strict action should be initiated against such quacks because they endanger the lives of people especially living in rural and backward areas. He suggested that non-government and religious organizations should also be made part of this awareness campaign.

The Minister assured Mr. Bagha that proper investigation would be conducted about the activities of unregistered quacks by the Health Department and if any person, other than properly registered and qualified, is found treating people then strong action would be taken against him. The Minister also informed Mr. Bagha that instructions have been issued to the Health Department to launch the awareness campaign.
