* Guru Kashi University launches “certificate course in Gatka coaching”
Chandigarh June 5 – Punjabi University Patiala has extended last date to get online admission in one year “Diploma in Gatka Coaching” to 10th July without late fees and up to 16 July with late fees of Rs 500. Counseling of eligible candidates will held on 16 and 17 July from 9 am in Department of Sports Sciences in the university.
Divulging the information Gatka Federation of india president Harcharn Singh Bhullar and national coordinator Principal Baljinder Singh Toor said “Sarbat Da Bhala” trust chairman SP Singh Oberoi, who is also President of Asian Gatka Federation, has announced to deposit 75% out of total course fees Rs 24,000 and candidate has to pay only 25% of fee. He added that graduate students could apply for this course having 25 seats. “Hostel facility is available for students in the university campus”, he said.
They informed that World Gatka Federation had signed a bilateral MOU with Punjabi University to promote Gatka as a sport besides conducting scientific studies and academic research. “Under this agreement the university had launched one year diploma and Ph.D course on Gatka besides conducting scientific studies in sports sciences and sports department”, he said.
Bhullar and Toor asked the aspiring eligible students to apply online for entrance exam for Ph.D from this academic session and get enrollment in research course on martial art Gatka.
Meanwhile Punjab Gatka Association General Secretary Harjeet Singh Grewal and state coordinator Udey Singh informed that Guru Kashi University Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda has launched “Certificate course in Gatka Coaching” from this academic year with the efforts of Gatka Federation of india. He said 10+2 pass Gatka players having experience of 2 years could get admission in this one year course having annual course fee Rs. 8500 only. He informed that candidates can call at toll free number 1800 1802 601 & fill online applications at university website.
Elaborating the benefits of Gatka courses, he said it would be useful for diploma/certificate holders to impart certified coaching/training to players and getting jobs in india and abroad as a Gatka Instructor/Trainer in educational institutions and sports department. Besides, diploma/certificate holders could run their professional coaching academies/centers and avail affiliation from Gatka Federation of india or Gatka Associations. “A placement cell is being constituted to facilitate the trained diploma/certificate holders”, he added.
