Toronto--Toronto’s former mayor could soon be back at work at city hall – if only on a part-time basis to start.

Rob Ford’s medical team has cleared the councillor to return to work for one to two days a week, according to a release issued Thursday night.
According to the release, prepared by Ford’s chief of staff Dan Jacobs, doctors are ‘extremely pleased’ with Ford’s progress, and “are surprised at how far he has come in the recovery process in such a short period of time.”

Ford will continue to see his health team on a daily basis, and will continue to wear an abdominal binder, the release adds.
“(Ford) wishes again to send his thanks to his medial team, and to everyone who has continued to offer their whole-hearted support throughout his recovery,” the statement concludes.
Ford underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his abdomen in May at Mount Sinai Hospital.
