GURDASPUR/AMRITSAR, July 2: Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha, Capt Amarinder Singh today warned the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and the revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia that they will have to pay for their sins of spreading and promoting the supply of drugs in Punjab that has devastated an entire generation.

Addressing an impressive public rally organised by senior party leader Raman Behal here today, Capt Amarinder referred to the daily deaths of youth reported from the area because of drugs. He disclosed that during last two days, three youth had been reported dead, while 14 others were struggling for life. “And this is all because of silence of and support to drug smuggling and pedalling by Badals and Majithia who have pushed our youth towards addiction”, he said, while adding, “government is supposed to stop and prevent such things but what to talk of stopping these the Badals are promoting it (the drug pedalling and smuggling)”.

The former Chief Minister referred to hundreds of false cases registered against the Congress workers at the behest of Akalis. He said, not only will all these FIRs be cancelled, but cases will be registered against all those who falsely implicated the Congressmen. He also said, the police officials who acted partially against the Congress workers at the behest of Akalis will also be dealt with according to the law.

Referring to the land grabbing by the local MLA Babbehali forcing scores of people out of their land, he promised that he will ensure that this MLA was put behind bars once Congress came to power.

Capt Amarinder expressed serious concern over the rising unemployment in the state which he said was the cause of growing problem of law and order. He blamed Akalis for it saying, had the industry not been forced out of Punjab, there would not have been this much of unemployment. He said, wrong and hostile policies of the Akalis were responsible for the flight of the industry from the state.

He said, Chief Minister Badal had only three fixations through out his life and these included Sangat Darshan, Focal Point and Adarsh Schools and he was unable to come out of these. He said, just because he remains lost in his Sangat Darshans, he forgets rest of the administration that has eventually ruined the state in all respects whether social, economic, industrial or agricultural.

Capt Amarinder also lashed out at the BJP led NDA government at the centre for its failure to fulfil the promise of one rank one pension (OROP) to the ex-servicemen. He reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi of his promise before elections of granting OROP to the ex-servicemen. He said, these people had given their entire life to the country and now it was the duty of the government to give them their due. He said, despite the previous Congress led UPA government having passed the law for OROP, the BJP government was sitting over it for a silly excuse that Rs 9100 crores was too much to be borne by the central government. “Does 9100 crores really matter when it comes to paying back our ex-servicemen who have given their life guarding our borders and fighting wars for us?”, he asked.

Capt Amarinder also assured the minorities like the Christians and the Muslims of safety, security, respect and equal participation and representation in the development. “We are all Indians irrespective of which faith we belong to”, he assured.
