Chandigarh, June 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party, the alliance partner of the Akali Dal, today gave yet another indication of the party going solo in the 2017 Assembly elections in Punjab with the announcement to strengthen the party upto booth level all over the state.
This is part of the special 3-month training programme that the party is starting from August 1 for new members.
Announcing this here today, state party chief Kamal Sharma said Dr Subhash Sharma had been appointed state convenor for this programme who would be assisted by senior party leader Mohan Lal Garg from Bathinda.
Apart from this, the three zonal conveners include Satish Mahajan from Pathankot for Majha, Ravinder Dhillon Ginni of Patiala for Malwa and DP Chandan for Doaba zone.
The focus would be on teaching newly inducted workers about the policies and functioning of the BJP.
Dr Sharma said the programme aimed at strengthening the party upto the booth level. The training would include educating the workers about the policies and achievements of the Narendra Modi government.
At the national level, a special seminar is being held from June 30 to July 2 in Delhi to finalise strategy for this programme to which final shape would be given by party chief Amit Modi.
It may be mentioned that the BJP has taken up the issue of drug menace as a single point agenda in the state that is enough to cause embarrassment to its alliance partner.
