SHARE CONDOLENCES WITH HIS SON SUKIRAT ANAND OVER TELEPHONE
Chandigarh, June 20: Punjab chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Editor-in-Chief of the Punjabi Daily ‘Nawan Zamana’, former Rajya Sabha Member and eminent Communist leader Mr. Jagjit Singh Anand, who passed away at a private hospital in Jalandhar last night after a prolonged illness. He was 95 and is survived by a son and a daughter.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that after having learnt about the sad demise of Mr. Anand, the Chief Minister shared his heartfelt condolences with his son Mr. Sukirat Singh Anand, the trustee of Nawan Zamana over telephone and prayed to the Almighty to give strength to the family members, friends and relatives to bear this huge loss in this hour of grief and grant peace to the departed soul.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister recalled the outstanding services rendered by Mr. Anand in the field of Journalism, literature and national politics, which would be ever remembered by one and all. The Chief Minister described Mr. Anand as a ‘great statesman, true parliamentarian and above all a fine human being with the qualities of head and heart’. He said that Mr. Anand’s stellar role in championing the cause of down trodden and oppressed sections of the society through his pen and active politics was the hallmark of his multi-faceted personality.
