Chandigarh, June 4: In a pro-people move, the Punjab government has decreased the limit of issuance of e-stamp certificates for registration of properties from present limit of Rs. 50,000/-to Rs. 20,000/-. This decision will authorize the Stock holding Corporation of India (SHCIL) to issue e-stamp certificates for amount exceeding Rs. 19,999/- and it would come in to force with effect from June 8.
According to an official spokesman, a notification in this regard has been issued today. With implementation of this decision, while registering any property, if stamp duty amount exceeds Rs. 20,000/-, then the buyers have to get e-stamp certificates from banks and this decision will be implemented throughout the state.
It may be mentioned here that this unique e stamping project was conceived and custom built for the requirements of Punjab under the guidance of Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia to end people harassment and also make revenue transactions safe and secure.
