Ghaziabad, Nithari killing convict Surender Koli was Wednesday shifted back from the Meerut jail to the Dasna jail here.
The decision to shift him back from Meerut jail to Dasna jail in Ghaziabad was taken after the Supreme Court put his execution on hold till Oct 29.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled Oct 28.
Meerut Jail superintendent S.M. Rizvi while confirming that Koli has been transferred to Dasna jail, said the Nithari killing convict is to be present in a CBI court regarding other murder cases, so he was sent back.
Koli was convicted for the murder of a girl who went missing in Noida in December 2006. After a police investigation, she was found to have been murdered by Koli.
During the probe, the skeletal remains of many other children were recovered from a drain adjacent to a house in Nithari, an area in Noida, where Koli worked as domestic help for businessman Moninder Singh Pandher.
All arrangements were made to hang Koli any time between Sep 7 and Sep 12 but the execution was suspended following a writ plea by lawyer Indira Jaisingh before the apex court. She requested the court to put Koli’s execution on hold till the fate of his co-accused Maninder Singh Pandher is decided in all the pending cases.
“If Koli is hanged, justice would not be delivered to the victims of the Nithari killings since the judicial process would be jeopardised in the absence of a co-accused,” the petition is learnt to have stated.
Koli was transferred to Meerut jail Sep 4 because of the absence of hanging facilities in Dasna jail.
