Muzaffarnaga, Two hundred three more people, who were displaced during last year’s Muzaffarnagar riots, will get compensation after the Uttar Pradesh government accepted their claims on the recommendation of district authorities.
These 203 people had been demanding compensation since last year, District Magistrate N P Singh said, adding, they will now be eligible for the same.
The state government had already provided compensation to 768 families of Rs five lakh each.
The decision comes after the Supreme Court directed the state government to reconsider the claims of remaining people who were displaced from their villages during the riots.
These people belonged to riot-affected villages such as Lank, Bahawadi, Lisadh, Bhaju, and Hasanpur in the district.
